I don't know for sure if this antique baby carriage blanket is made of silk. The fabric looks like crepe and is double layered. I also don't know if it was hand made or commercially made, although it looks to me as if it was handmade. I have shown a seam that was cut with pinking shears which makes me think it was handmade, and I see hand stitching. There is a water type spot that barely shows up. There is also the letter 'S' on the ruffle, as I have shown in a picture. If this is to be used for a display I would leave it just as is, as you have to look very close to even see these flaws. This cover is beautiful, much better looking than my pictures. I think it belongs in an antique carriage/pram with a bisque or composition doll.
