Doulton Burslem Vase ' RUTLAND ' Pattern.

 Date: 1884 - c.1902

This is an earthenware vase made by Doulton Burslem in the North Staffordshire Pottery town of Burslem. The cream ground is decorated with the Rutland pattern comprising of floral sprays around the body and below the top rim. The Rutland pattern was registered in 1884 but the vase probably dates to c.1902.

Dimensions:

Height - approx. 13.4 cm. (5.3 inch.).

Max. Diameter - approx. 15.0 cm. (5.9 inch.).

Top Rim diameter - 10.3 cm. (4.0 cm.).

Foot rim diameter - 8.3 cm. (3.3 cm.)

Weight: 836 grams.

Marks: To the underside in brown is the 4 D's mark  surrounded by ' DOULTON BURSLEM ' Above rests the Crown and below is ' ENGLAND '. Below this is ' RUTLAND ' and ' Rd. 168550 ' which dates the pattern to 1895. The addition of ' ENGLAND ' suggest the vase is later, c.1902. 

Condition: A few star cracks visible on the underside but not on the inside. Age crazing to the underside. No structural damage to the vase ie. no chips cracks or restoration. Some light staining to the inside.
