Long Lease! From Second Hand Trucks to the Nation's Largest Industrial Landlord. The Inside Story Of Slough Estates 1920 - 1991 by Michael Cassell. This 200 page hardback book with jacket measures approx 9" x 6". It is the 1991 First Edition published by Pencorp Book, England.

The story of Slough Estates is the unlikely tale of a group of businessmen who bought up the entire surplus stock of British army vehicles used in World War One and ended up as a powerful force in the nation's property development industry. It is also the story of a company that made a town. With a community of just 15,000 in 1918, the town of Slough today boasts a prosperous population of almost 100,000 with a density inextricably linked to a host which takes an extraordinary interest in its community welfare. The company could not have grown without the patronage of a good number of businesses down the years, many of which started their own corporate stories on the estate. Some, like No-Pe-Lo Potatoes and the O'Cedar Mop Co, have long since vanished but other have survived the roll call of business life, among them Mars, Flexello, Berlei, Aspro, Horlicks and Black and Decker. This is their story, too.
