These retired figures were produced by Aoshima in Japan around 1980. This lot features 4 mint-boxed sets in mint, sealed boxes which have never been sold before and which have never been opened.
Each set includes a seated patron eating
from a bowl of noodles, the restaurant owner offering a tray with 2
bowls of noodles (with separate sets of chopsticks), plus 2 potential
customers passing by, one with a load of goods slung over his shoulders,
the other carrying a bucket. All are dressed in traditional costume. In
addition there is a multi-piece restaurant which includes a stool for
the seated customer.
Each Aoshima set includes a group of multi-piece
figures, and several also contain accessories and larger scenic
settings. Every box includes full step-by-step assembly diagrams,
detailed color painting guides for decoration and photos of the set in
assembled and painted form, sometimes incorporated into a larger diorama
with other sets from the series. As the Era of the Samurai lasted from
the Middle Ages through the middle of the 19th Century, this kit can be
used over a span of 800 years.
