The U.S. production of this three act comedy/farce--in which several men attempt to find wealthy women to marry with the troublesome belief that females are the weaker sex--premiered at the Henry Miller Theater, October 20, 1931, directed by Gilbert Miller.
The original French play production under the title LA SEXE FAIBLE ran to great success for nearly two years at the Theatre de la Michodiere and was then produced in Berlin.
Adapted to film twice under the title THE WEAKER SEX, first as a 1917 Raymond B. West directed American silent film starring Dorothy Dalton, Louise Glaum, and Charles Ray; and then as the 1933 Robert Siodmak directed French film starring Mireille Balin, Victor Boucher, and Pierre Brasseur.
Some wear to upper shelf-edge and corner tips, fading and slight foxing to the spine, tiny tears to upper spine edge, mild yellow age-toning to the cover borders, scholar and play critic Eleazer Lecky's name-plate to inside front cover, else very good in blue linen over blue boards with silver embossed titles to the spine; no dust jacket.
