Devonian period ammonoid [417.000,000 to 353,000,000] which is retained in the original limestone fossil bedrock. The ammonoid has been excavated from the fossil bedding layer. The rock cut and removed from around the specimen fossil, while creating a natural foot for display, thence hand prepared and polished to a high standard. The preparation reveals the mineral encapsulated within the chambers, these calcites (quartz) and other types of natural minerals which have been deposit through the fossil bed.
