You are bidding on about 100 seeds of NARROW LEAF CATTAIL ( TYPHA AUGUSTIFOLIA ) . ( I'm also selling these as live plants now , see my other items for sale )
This is similar to the common broadleaf cattails, except the foliage is more narrow and slender, and grows to approximately 4' to 5’ in height with a slender 6" cattail flower . Tolerates up to 10" water depth. Hardy in zones 2-10.
The last picture shows the 3 cattails I sell, broadleaf , narrowleaf and dwarf . This one is the middle one.
Medicinal use of cattail:
The pollen is diuretic, emmenagogue and haemostatic. The dried pollen is said to be anticoagulant, but when roasted with charcoal it becomes haemostatic. It should not be prescribed for pregnant women. Externally, it is used in the treatment of tapeworms, diarrheaand injuries. An infusion of the root has been used in the treatment of gravel.
