Nylon watch straps were fist created by the British Ministry of Defence (MoD) in 1970, based on a need to replace leather straps that couldn't handle humid environments. To have it issued British Special Forces had to fill up a specific form which later gave the strap its nickname. The other term also used in the watch community as a description of this type of watch straps and it derives from alphanumeric code   of a military organisation. The mainstream popularity of the nylon straps came after the role of Sean Connery in Goldfinger movie where James Bond wore his Rolex Submariner on this type of strap. This gave this style of watch strap name "Bond" style. Later various luxury watches were worn in James Bond movies Dr No, From Russia with Love, Goldfinger and Thunderball, further enforced this style. Nylon straps are very functional - since due to how they are installed on the watch, can prevent from losing it if a spring bar pops out. They look great in all kinds of settings, wear very comfortably and work with watches of all price points, making it perfect every day strap.
