I imagine these painted ladies might have some dark stories behind them.  The one wearing the dark headdress looks like that one woman that Edward Gorey drew more than once. I think she was featured in the opening sequence of PBS Mysteries back in the day. Apparently, they have a whole second life when you shine a UV light on them! Check it out...that glow!
