Additional information on the 1965 Canadian pennies is as follows:

In 1965, two different styles were made. One had small beads inside the rim and the other had large beads. Since the one with large beads was wearing too quickly, the second one was made with small beads inside the rim. By observing the position of the “A” at the end of the word Regina in relationship to the beads, the top point of the “A” on the coin with Large Beads is positioned to the right of the bead. Whereas, the top point of the “A” on the coin with Small Beads is positioned to the left of the bead. In addition, two different numeral styles of “5” were used; one with a blunt “5” the other with a pointed “5”, which has a 45° angle.

These are the 4 varieties that are collected by the vast majority of collectors of Canada one-cent coins.
