Ethically and sustainably made by a small group of artisan carvers in Kisii, Kenya - a region which is famous for it's high quality soapstone and the most talented carvers on the continent.

Detailed and substantial in size and weight, this hand carved ornament adds style and fun to your home. Soapstone is also eco-friendly and hard wearing. It can be used indoors or outdoors but as it does not have a drainage hole it is suggested that indoors is best.

It makes an ideal gift, great for Xmas and to brighten up any room.

These planters's are dug out of the ground, carved, painted and polished by the Tabaka Chigware Youths Self-Help Group, a community of young artisans, which launched in 1996, with 40 young members aged 18 and over. An even mix of young women and men, their group successfully started improving their families’ and communities’ livelihoods. 

Through crafting soapstone goods, they have been contributing to improved housing, clean water initiatives, medical facilities, and better education for their children
