This Ultimate Restoration Kit for the Marantz 3200 Preamp also includes a relay despite one not being pictured.
Kits include all on board capacitors to recap/restore this preamp. Kits also include transistors to replace those we now know are noisy or otherwise problematic. This will restore a working unit to it's showroom sound (and better with the wima caps), drop the noise floor and probably make you wonder why you waited once you hear the difference. It will also remove parts that are well past their promised shelf life and whose failure could take out other parts as well. Kits are separted by board for easily locating parts as you work.
The kit replaces electrolytic and tant caps with high quality new ones sourced via reputable USA distributors like Digikey and Mouser. Caps are Nichicon high quality UKL and UPW capacitors or the highly regarded Panasonic FC & FM series caps. All new caps will be the same capacitance as the originals (some filtering caps may be slightly higher for better performance). The voltage ratings are always at least as high as the originals and oftentimes higher.
Transistors are also sourced the same way and almost all are highly reliable on-semi devices. Not all (not even most) transistors get replaced, just those that time and collective knowledge have shown to be either noisy, unreliable or at the edge of their operating ability.
The individual doing the work should be competent with a soldering gun, multimeter, reading a schematic etc. I am not a tech, but I have successfully done hundreds of restorations over the last 20 years.
Many of the parts lists for these kits were compiled when we restored units, others are sourced from the service manuals (digital download included in purchase if you don't know how to source it). We have compiled parts lists for well over 200 units for units from Marantz, Technics, Pioneer, Sansui, Harman Kardon, etc. We do not sell kits for tube gear currently.
If the service manual is wrong (it does happen) we will ship you out the correct parts free of charge. The same is true if we make a mistake in compiling the kit ( I hope not but just in case). We want this process to go smoothly for you.
Included is an extensive 17 page instruction sheet via PDF. It is not a step by step guide. But, with it, the service manual, our part number labeled parts list you will have everything you need to get the job done.
