A really nice antique late 1890's Gorham pierced sterling silver over the cup tea stariner. Measures 6 3/8" long x 2 3/4" diameter across the bowl x 7/8" deep and weighs 47.3 grams. Gorgeous strainer decorated throughout in a scroll motif with fluted bowl and pierced fleur de lys in base. The strainer is in nice condition with no dings or dents and no cracks in the piercing. The handle may or may not have had an old repair and looks double reinforced where the handle meets the bowl. Hard to say if this was a custom repair or original design. Nevertheless the handle is dead tight and secure. It is stamped on the back sterling 105 along with Gorham maker's mark used in the last quarter of the 19th century. The bottom of the bowl is monogrammed GS along with date '02. Nice item. Very clean. Enlarge all pics for best details.
