Hi! You're looking at a SUPERB and virtually FLAWLESS condition DVD which is a classic 1966 Indian film written, directed and with music by SATYAJIT RAY--the DVD is part of the "Satyajit Ray Signature Collection" issued by BIG Home Video and incudes an original film booklet, costume design information, and more.  This DVD is in SUPERB and virtually FLAWLESS condition and the disc has been played only ONCE and plays PERFECTLY and is in FLAWLESS shape; the inner cardboard case has a slight ding on the center right edge of the back surface and NO other significant, the booklet is in FLAWLESS shape, and the outer slipcase is still in the ORIGINAL FACTORY SHRINKWRAP with a distributor's sticker on the lower center edge of the back cover and is in PERFECT shape otherwise--it's NOT a cutout!     The DVD Set is titled "The Hero (Nayak)" and it was issued by BIG Home Video; it's in Bengali with English subtitles.

In this psychologically rich character study, written and directed by Satyajit Ray, Bengali film star Uttam Kumar draws on his real-world celebrity to play Arindam Mukherjee, a matinee idol on the brink of his first flop. When Mukherjee boards an overnight train to Delhi to accept an award, a journalist (Sharmila Tagore) approaches him seeking an exclusive interview, which initiates a conversation that sends the actor reeling down a path of self-examination. Seamlessly integrating rueful flashbacks and surreal dream sequences with the quietly revelatory stories of the train's other passengers, "The Hero" is a graceful meditation on art, fame, and regret from one of world cinema's most keenly perceptive filmmakers.

A fantastic find, and a beautiful copy of this DVD!
