George Soule was an Editor of the New Republic during the Great Depression.
This book deals with the central problem of our civilization prior to the Great Depression. Restless dissatisfaction with a society which plunges from prosperity to depression.  The book assesses the then current unrest with the Great Depression and traces its sources. It considers the defects of traditional liberalism in economics and government and examines the prominent philosophies of social change.
A book well worth reading today.
