Antique 1840s Victorian Purple Cotton and Velvet Jacket, RARE Regency Era AS IS. This special jacket is in stunning condition considering its age. It is made from a deep purple cotton and trimmed with velvet of the same color. It has 9 round gold buttons up the front for closure that are all attached and in working condition. There is a note sewn into the lower back of the jacket on muslin that reads, "Clara Barton was born 1821 and died 1912, aged 91 years, Founder American red Cross." We are unsure if this was owned by Clara Barton specifically or not, but it appears this note was added much after her death. It is authentic to the mid 1800s.

This specially piece can definitely be delicately worn or displayed on a mannequin. It is in great condition except for some minor stains that we have not tried to remove. It has some general wear throughout the piece, specifically on the velvet parts of the jacket. The lining is in very good condition and may have been replaced at some point.
