OFFERED IS A VERY STRIKING SERVING PLATTER MADE IN THE NETHERLANDS BY THE ESTEEMED ROYAL DELFT CO. THIS PLATE IS FROM THEIR DISKUS COLLECTION.
Diskus is a series of ceramic plates with different handwritten statements on a variety of topics. The idea is that conversations at the dinner table don’t only have to be about work, politics or the children. The statements on the plates are provocative enough to inspire discussion on subjects as varied as friendship, women or chance, even when conversation is not forthcoming. There are eight plates in total, four Dutch and four English. Diskus! is an exclusive product derived from the cooperation between Nicole van Schouwenburg (design and calligraphy) and Irene Klinkenberg/Royal Delft. Suitable for the dishwasher and microwave.
AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS THE PLATE IS DECORATED WITH CONCENTRIC CALLIGRAPHY TEXT. THE TITLE OF THIS PLATTER IS "ETEN" WHICH TRANSLATES TO ENGLISH MEANING FOOD.
The Dutch text on the plate translates to English as follows: For me food is the best life has to offer, I eat so live. If I ask you what is the best thing you have ever eaten, I am sure you felt very alive at that time, with all senses awake. In love, proud after a presentation, or safe after a challenge. The dish itself does not really matter.

THE MEASUREMENTS:
Approximately 12" top diameter. The weight is just about 2 pounds 6 oz. The completed carton will ship USPS insured Priority or Ground Advantage at the 4 pound rate.

Excellent overall, very responsibly pre-enjoyed clean condition. This is what I see: there is a scant amount of table friction on the unglazed base ring. Otherwise, I do not see anything of consequence to describe. ●●●I hope I have not missed anything. If I did, it was surely minor and 100% unintentional.●●● Just about 99% of the collectibles I offer are vintage/pre-owned and may show a small amount of use.
