Description
2 Quick Connect adapters for Gibson (4 conductor+shield) "5 wire" pcb control boards
This is the (4 conductor+shield) "5 wire" style Quick Connect that Gibson started using in (around) 2012.
Made from 28 AWG 7 strand tinned copper wire and is about 4 inches long.
Heat shrink tubing for all the wires is included, as well as 2 larger heat shrink tubes.
You can use these connectors to connect pretty much any pickup from any company to a Gibson "5 wire" pcb control board.
Shielded 1 wire, 2 wire, 3 wire, 4 wire and 5 wire pickups will all work with these connectors.
Method 1
Mark a straight line across all 5 wires with a marker
Hold a non serrated butter knife or box cutter utility razor blade upside down (or a similar piece of metal) with pliers
Heat the butter knife or non sharp side of the razor blade with a lighter or mini/pen torch
Place 1 wire at a time on a flat surface
Put the hot blade on the marked line of the wire and
Twist the wire under it while pushing the blade forward
There should be a perfect line melted around the insulation now
Pull the little bit of insulation off
Method 2
Hold the wire in 1 hand
Run the part of the wire that you want to strip over the flame of a cigarette lighter for 1 second or less (yes, literally 1 second or less)
In a quick manner, pull the piece of insulation right off
