This is an auction for a very unusual but 100% original Sterling Silver 1807 large gentleman's size pocket novelty Vinaigrette that has been made to look like a regency hunter pocket watch but opens to reveal a wonderful original pocket Vinaigrette made by Samuel Pemberton at his Snow Hill workshop in Birmingham with very clear "SP" makers assay marks with Birmingham Anchor town marks and the "j" for 1807 as well, clear original assay hallmarks that perfectly match.

The vinaigrette has turned up in an old estate and has not been messed with, it has 2 hinges which need work, firstly the inside pierced cover has a small hing at the bottom which would enable it to open and close, this has the middle section on the cover missing but the other "case" parts are intact and so is the original pin, then on the outside the main hing that opens the whole case has a section of the hing missing as well but it closes very well and has not been repaired so a good Silversmith with modern equipment should be able to fix with some ease?

We are selling exactly as we have found it, I have seen similar novelty vinaigrette's before but a quarter this size, I see pocket watch shape case often but 15-20 mm across not like this example which is full size.

Sold now as a good early case and needing some work so bought as seen but still a very unusual rare novelty Vinaigrette by a very good maker and its still 215 years old so has survived really quite well to have stayed together.

The condition is solid & good overall but needs the 2 hing's repairing as already described.

Please look at the images closely as they represent an important part of the description, thanks.

Size: approx 4.5 cm across without the pendant and bow

We do combine postage, no effort is ever made to profit from P&P its just a service as we see it that should be run at cost after ebay fee's, each year we loose money on postage cost's.
