Why Aqua-Sure Ultra Violet Sterilizer?

How does a Ultra Violet Sterilizer Work?
Ultra Violet Sterilizers kill 99% of floating algae as well as other living organisms. They do not harm the beneficial bacteria that grow in filters and on rocks, etc. in your pond. They only kill the organisms that are floating in the water and that come in direct contact with the UV bulb. For Koi/Fish keeping it is best to opt for a UV sterilizer because it not only clears 'Green Water' but, as the term 'Sterilizer' infers, it also sterilizes the water itself - thus helping to kill the harmful bacteria that lives in the water.
How does a Ultra Violet Sterilizer Improve Water Clarity?
Single-celled green algae, (Chlorella vulgaris) require light and nutrients to thrive. It is one sign that your pond is generally healthy, but it doesn't do much for your overall enjoyment of viewing your Koi/fish! The small algae cells can pass through all conventional filter, so physically filtering them out in their normal form is next to impossible. However, passing the cells through a UV disrupts their internal structure, destroying their ability to multiply and makes them clump together or 'flocculate?. Once they have clumped together they are big enough to be removed by your normal filtration system.

Fault Indicator
This Ultra Violet Sterilizer has been designed with a built in Fault Indicator.
If a fault occurs the visual Fault Indicator light will illuminate on the front of the Electronic Unit.
If a fault is detected, the fault detector will shut the Electronic Unit down to protect the internal workings of the unit, giving no power output to the bulb.
The Aqua-Sure Ultra Violet Sterilizer unit is supplied with parts for two setup options depending if you are joining onto rigid solvent weld waste pipe or connecting to flexible hose.

Stepped hosetails are simple and easy to use, the UV is supplied with two 4 stepped hosetail that can be used in-conjunction with flexible hose with an internal diameter (ID) of 20mm (3/4") -25mm (1") 32mm- (1.25") 38mm-(1.5") flexi hose.
What Size Unit Do I Need?
The table shows the size of pond a given Aqua-Sure Ultra Violet Sterilizer Unit will clear of green water algae. These are only recommended sizes although many customers have reported using our units on ponds of more than double our suggested pond sizes while still achieving superb results. For optimum results, all of the pond water should be pumped through the UV every 1.5 - 2 hours. Only water passed through the unit is treated, so ensure any water that is diverted (i.e. water features) passes through the Aqua-Sure Ultra Violet Sterilizer Unit first

This great bundle deal will set you up for the year ahead, ensuring you have all the necessary parts to keep your UV unit in full operation throughout the year. This bundle allows a bulb change every 6 months and quartz change (what we recommend) all so supplied with a set of spare "O" Rings.
This is one of the most integral parts of your overall filtration system, yet we often forget to maintain it as time goes by.You should replace the UV lamp in your UV unit every 6 months to ensure optimum performance and clarity.Although the lamp may still burn, it no longer emits the right UV radiation
Be sure to replace or clean the quartz glass of the unit carefully before installing the new lamp to optimize the light transmission.
