Map of the Country extending ten miles around Leeds

Including Wakefield, Bradford, Dewsbury, Otley, Harewood, Aberford & Castleford, shewing all the Parish and Township Boundaries, &c, from actual admeasurements in the years 1819, 20 & 21 by Joshua Thorp and re-surveyed & corrected to January 1st 1831 by S D Martin

Pub.: John Baines & Company, Leeds 1831.

This is a high quality photographic reproduction, laminated and mounted on wood for wall display, of the original
engraved map which was dissected and mounted on linen.

It measures
1157mm (height) by 1265mm (width) or 45.5 by 49.75 inches.

This large scale map of West Yorkshire, extends from Harewood to Wakefield, and from Bradford to Aberford. The map shows the the proposed line of the Leeds and Bradford Railway, opened in 1846, and the Parliamentary Line of the Leeds and Selby Railway, the first mainline railway in Yorkshire, which was started in 1830 and opened in 1834.

The publisher, John Baines, was a stationer and possibly the younger brother of Edward Baines, politician and proprietor of the Leeds Mercury newspaper.

This is an extremely scarce map, and would make an excellent wall display for a pub or man-cave.

Collection in person from LS2 7QA or I can arrange a courier within mainland UK (usual exceptions for remote areas).
