Vintage Danish Krone Silver Plate Cutlery set for 12

This beautiful Danish setting was made by Carl F Christiansen Silver Workshop, Copenhagen and each piece has their mark of a crown and CC. The pattern is called Krone Monster which translates as Crown Design.  The workshop closed in 1963. Most of these pieces are also marked with the Danish quality torch mark with the letters FDG to the centre indicating a manufacturing date 1928-1932. After this time the letters were dropped. This is an early setting around 90 years old. This seems hard to believe by the quality and condition of the pieces.

We have found that the quality of Danish silver plate cutlery is very high. The silver plating is thick and pieces wear extremely well. The patterns are timeless in their appeal and so different from other designs generally found in Australia. We just love them.

The set comprises a 12 place setting with 82 pieces including the hard to find dinner knives. There are 12 smooth bladed hollow handled dinner knives, 12 dinner forks, 12 entree forks, 12 large Continental soup spoons, 12 dessert spoons, 12 teaspoons, a gravy or sauce ladle, 5 assorted large serving spoons, a large serving fork, a crown bottle opener and a pair of salad servers. There are 10 serving pieces making a total of 82 pieces.

The silver plate to these pieces is in lovely condition with only fine usage scratches. There is serving spoon which has a pin head size spot of wear to the back as shown in the photos, the serving fork has a scratch to the front and two of the knives has some grey spots to the blades as shown and one has a ripple in the stainless steel blade, also shown. The salad server fork has a loose metal cover piece where the handle meets the serving section. The dinner forks show some spot loss of plating to the side edges. This is something we often see in older cutlery from all over the world and assume it is something to do with the way the pieces are plated. It appears like the plating thins and sometimes is missing. It is minor can can be seen from the side only.  Apart from this there is no wear or other loss of the silver plate to any of the pieces.

The knives come in their own knife roll, a hand made piece specially for them.

This is a beautiful Danish setting and would grace any table with elegance and style.
