Antique 19th Century Traditional Japanese Farmer's 2-Piece Rain / Snow Rice Straw Cape

This is a antique nineteeth century traditional Japanese farmer's two piece rain/snow rice straw cape. This
is made of woven Rice Straw, woven and bound together with colored straw to make a intricate
geometric pattern. This piece probably came from northern prefectures, where rice is common.

This rain/snow coat was on loan to, and displayed at the Tacoma Art Museum around 1989, with paper work.
