Very rare, hard to find, large book! Privately published in 1845 by John Sainsbury in London. Sainsbury was an obsessed collector of everything Napoleon. He amassed what was likely the largest and most impressive collection of Napoleon related items at that point in history. This book documents his collection and the reign of Napoleon. It is an illustrated first edition. There are a couple copies of this book available for sale online, none can be had for under $2,500 USD.

This copies binding is not in great condition. Both covers are detached from the binding. The spine could use repair. Luckily the pages are not loose. There is foxing present and chips to page edges. The foxing is better towards the middle of the book as is common. I believe it is complete but I have nothing to compare it to. Most recently the book belonged to a doctor and high end collector in a Cooperstown, NY. There is a letter pasted to the title page from 1939. I assume the letter was written to a former owner who was looking to gather more information on the book. Unfortunately I can only post twelve photos. I ask you please examine them closely. If I can provide additional photos of anything in particular to you please don’t hesitate to reach out. The book is 12”x15”. Shipping will be done carefully and ASAP! Thanks!
