The high-strength, colored titanium nitride coating of one scissor half produces a self-sharpening effect because the surface of the coated scissor half is about twice as hard as that of the uncoated one. As a result, the harder half is significantly more resistant to wear and re-establishes the cutting edge of the other, softer half at each opening / closing (design protected).

The titanium nitride coating was tested for wear and tear on the manicure scissors by the VPA Test and Test Institute Remscheid (Test Report No. 170449/13067):
"The cutting performance tests were carried out with a device according to Research Report No. 2272 of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The wear of the same manicure scissors without coating ends with approximately 50,000 cuts with the complete wear. The StahlKrone manicure scissors, on the other hand, cuts perfectly even after 103,000 cuts! "
