Like the UGears Hurdy-Gurdy, the Mechanical Celesta is both a wooden mechanical model and a functional musical instrument. Thanks to the Mechanical Celesta's ease of use, even the smallest child or those without any prior musical knowledge can begin to play music by striking the keys or turning the crank to produce pre-programmed melodies.
In “manual mode” when you press a key the hammer strikes a plate and the sound of the corresponding note is heard. In “programmed mode” you arrange a series of wooden pins along a rotating drum. When the drum is turned the pins trigger the hammers to strike the right notes.
The Mechanical Celesta from UGears is a unique combination of design, engineering, and art, and is sure to delight musicians, modelers, and 3D puzzle enthusiasts. Program known melodies into the player piano drum or create original compositions that others can play simply by turning the crank. Your audiences will be impressed by your creativity and ingenuity as you play music on an instrument you built yourself!
Like all other UGears kits, the Mechanical Celesta comes with step-by-step, full-color, truly easy to follow instructions in 11 languages (English, Ukrainian, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Polish, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean) and requires neither glue nor special tools to be assembled into a fully functional musical machine.
573 pieces, 11.2 x 11 x 4.7 inches when finished. Assembly time: ~8 hours. Recommended age: 14+
