Beautiful egg shaped filigree sterling silver pomander pendant. It opens so that you can put an item of your choice inside, traditionally perfumed cotton wool or you could put a small piece of paper in with a poem, love note or your favourite saying on it. They are also sometimes used keeping a lock of human or pet hair in as a memorial.

The pendant measures 1.4 x 2cm, length with large loop 3cm. Pendant weight without the chain is 5.4g, it has a good weighty feel for the size.

I can't see a 925 stamp on this pendant. There may be one hiding somewhere but it's totally normal for a Balinese jewellery maker to not stamp an item where there is no good place to put one, as is the case with a lot of filigreed items so that the beauty of the item isn't spoiled.

The item is solid sterling silver regardless of whether it's stamped or not, Bali don't have the hallmarking system we have in the uk. They like most of the world use a 925 stamp which isn't regulated by law and is used as an indicator of metal content. All of the makers I use make jewellery that has a minimum of 92.5% pure silver per 100 parts so meets and in most cases exceeds the 925 standard.
