REAL PHOTO:  Valley City, NORTH DAKOTA - Mercy Hospital -  1938:  Valley City is a city in Barnes County, North Dakota, United States. It is the county seat of Barnes County.  The population was 6,575 during the 2020 census, making it the 12th largest city in North Dakota. Valley City was founded in 1874.  Valley City is known for its many bridges over the Sheyenne River, including the Hi-Line Railroad Bridge. These bridges have earned it the distinction of being called the "City of Bridges". The city is also the home of Valley City State University and the North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA). In 1937, the Sisters of Mercy of Valley City took over the Hospital and named it Mercy Hospital. On September 22, 1950, the first Franciscan Sisters took over the operation of the hospital and named it St Joseph’s Hospital, with Sister Mary Agnes as the first Administrator.  In July of 1969 Sheyenne Care Center Hospital and Mercy Hospital entered into an agreement identifying that the Sheyenne Care Center Hospital would provide skilled nursing care and that Mercy Hospital would provide the acute and rehabilitation care.  This Real Photo Photochromatic postcard, mailed in 1938, is in good condition.  No. 8115.
