Very cool coin that contains actual lava from the Vesuvius region.
The convex obverse is struck in high relief representation of the volcano itself, around the edge of which are some stylized buildings from Pompeii. This was the scene of the infamous eruption of 79 A.D. that destroyed the town and its neighbors.
The denomination, metal purity, and name of the volcano are on the opposite rim of the coin.
Sale includes a luxury presentation case with included certificate of authenticity from the Mint of Poland.
Only 688 ever minted.
