The 1928 Jewelry Company was founded in 1968 by Mel Bernie in Burbank, California. The 23-year-old was a watch salesman by day and a jewelry craftsman in his spare time. The business was known early on for making vintage-look jewelry based on actual antique pieces, and subsequently grew into a multi-million dollar enterprise. They were also the first jewelry business to sell their brand by doing in-store promotions.
