Napoleonic Era 5 pc French Sterling Silver Prerevolutionary Traveling Military Cookware Hallmarked c1784 -  957 fine

Presented is a fantastic French Pre-revolutionary Officers Traveling Cookware set hallmarked with a date mark for silver made in 1784 of 957 fine silver. The charge marks on this item indicate this piece to have been assayed of at least 957 fine silver; American standard sterling silver is 925 fine; so there is slightly more silver in this alloy. This set includes a lidded pot  with a wood finial, a wood handle, Three wick oil burner, a cut out basin stand with removable wood handle all marked for silver made in the provinces of France. It is in stunning condition for its historic age with only some dings, some bend or crush of cut-out heater holder, no monogram, the lid of the pot fits tight with a slightly loose handle of lid and pot, one wick missing and some fine scratches from gentle use and care. It should be noted the cook pot is not stable on burner chimney. This is an excellent collector’s piece for the collector of fine antique silver.

I have an interesting assortment of items listed so please look at my other auctions.
