This is a beautiful Navajo art tile, Tigua, signed by R.C. Gorman, circa 1977. R. C. Gorman (July 26, 1931 – November 3, 2005) was a Native American artist of the Navajo Nation. Referred to as "the Picasso of American Indian artists" by The New York Times, his paintings were primarily of Native American women and characterized by fluid forms and vibrant colors, though he also worked in sculpture, ceramics, and stone lithography. It is both signed and dated on the bottom left corner.
It can be displayed either on an easel or hung
from the wall using the hanger on the back.
Label on the reverse side
reads” This is a Fine Art. A fine Art Print, from the great Artists. Carefully handcrafted
into tile. Each Tile has been individually designed to each shape and color, to
further enrich the artist work of art. Signed R.C Gorman Tigua

Approx. Measurements: Size: 12 x 12, Weight: 4lb 1oz (without box and packaging
Condition: Very good for 45 years old. There is a little scratch under the brown border, see photo 13 with a black box around the scratch. A little bit of the blue paint on the bottom of ceramic frame is missing, I’m guessing it might have been leaning against a wall while resting on a table.
