"Trench Art" is a generic term for crafts made by soldiers while sitting around waiting for the next shell to drop on them and most trench art did involve some kind of brass shell. These however are of a spiritual nature and consist of one each French and German coin made into small and convenient candle holders. What tool or tools were used I am not sure but in some manner they managed to work the rims up higher and then put a gouge or two on the surface to keep the candle from moving. Very handy and portable and something you could fish out of your pocket and fit a candle on in total darkness.

Historical and managing to eke some extent of humanity even from such a conflict. I have no history on these and they may or may not have belonged to the same soldier at the same time. Anyone might burn a candle but in general Catholics burn more of them and it is likely the original owner or owners were Catholics but again they might have been anyone. Not things you will see the like of very often.
