Blown and Acid Etched Glass, Sterling Silver Mounted Decanter - Antique Victorian

Description

This exceptional antique Victorian glass and sterling silver decanter has been crafted in the late 19th century, Aesthetic style.

This antique blown glass decanter has a plain gourd shaped form onto a circular collet foot.

The glass body of this exceptional decanter is ornamented with an acid etched initial "R" surmounted by a baron"s coronet.

The antique decanter is fitted with a fine hallmarked English sterling silver mount modelled in the form of a bamboo stem, conjoining to the glass body with a realistic bamboo leaf decorated, spreading shaped lower border in relief.

The mount is encircled mid-way with a bamboo leaf decorated girdle.

The rim of the mount displays the inscription "Jones 41 St James"s St & 23 Bt Des Capucines, Paris".

The decanter is fitted with the impressive hallmarked pierced bamboo leaf decorated stopper.

The stopper has a plain boss and retains the original cork.

Condition

The antique mount and stopper are an excellent gauge of silver, fine quality and in excellent presentation condition.

The interior of the decanter has been professionally cleaned, and the glass is in perfect condition.

The hallmarks struck to the surface of the mount and to the stopper are all clear.
