The moose, deer antlers and wood were the most affordable raw materials used to carve and design ornate pieces. A common feature among Viking jewellery were animal designs taken from nature and Norse mythology. Bone jewellery was common among Viking men and women.

Materials: moose antlers. No animal has been injured, as moose drop their antlers from late March to mid-April.

Dragonships DRAGON = DRAKE (ON dreki – m.pl. drekar) Dragonships were large longships that had carved heads of dragons and other magical beings mounted on their stem. They were ships for chieftains and kings. The ship’s dragonhead was a visual message about the owner’s status.

Ravens play an important role in Norse mythology because they are closely related to Odin. Ravens are the holy birds around Odin. Huginn and Muninn are two ravens kept by Odin. The name Huggin means “idea” while Muninn means “memory’. Every morning they fly to the human world at dawn, and report back to Odin in the evening. They always rest at Odin’s shoulders and whisper to him. Therefore, Odin is also referred to as “the God of the raven”.
