Sterling Silver Goblet - Antique ViCtorian (1889)

Description

This exceptional, fine and impressive antique ViCtorian sterling silver goblet, has a circular bell-shaped form onto a pedestal circular domed foot.

The hallmarked body of this antique goblet is embellished with impressive embossed and chased floral and foliate decoration incorporating trellis designs.

The decoration to the body incorporates four cartouches, three featuring an impressive chased and embossed floral spray.

The fourth cartouche is ornamented with the contemporary engraved presentation inscription "Coquetdale Golf Club, Rotherbury Challenge Cup".

The upper rim of this sterling silver 19th century silver goblet is encompassed with a further engraved inscription "Won Five times by WM Heydon, Scratch 1892".

The pedestal foot is ornamented with naturalistic textures, to further chased and embossed floral and foliate decoration.

The interior of the goblet bears the original gilding.

Condition

This antique 1860s silver goblet is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The chased and embossed decoration is very sharp.

Full hallmarks struck to the surface of the goblet are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of ViCtorian silverware.
