Archer B. Gilfillan, who takes on himself the title role in the "Goat's Eye View of the Black Hills" was born in Minnesota in 1887, was educated in several eastern universities.

His views on the Black Hills are firsthand, having lived in and around them for four decades.  His writing is the kind of dry humor he presents here in "A Goat's Eye View of the Black Hills."

The book is charmingly illustrated throughout with drawings by Cec Carrell
