Sterling Silver Salver by Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd - Antique Edwardian (1908)

Description

This exceptional antique Edwardian sterling silver salver has an oval navette shaped form.

The surface and swept border of the salver are encompassed with a bright cut engraved and pin struck undulating borders, with a central impressive bright cut engraved shield shaped cartouche surmounted with an urn with suspended husk and bud ornamentation.

The rim of this antique Edward Barnard & Sons silver salver is embellished with an applied moulded border.

The underside of the salver bears the retailer"s mark "Bristol Goldsmiths Alliance", in addition to the full hallmarks.

This impressive antique salver, crafted by the renowned London silversmith Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd, is a desirable shape.

Condition

This antique silver salver is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in excellent presentation condition, in keeping with age.

There is a pin sized blemish to the surface of the tray; this does not detract from the aesthetically pleasing appearance of the piece.

The bright cut engraved decoration is very crisp.

Full hallmarks struck to the underside of the salver are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this example of Edwardian silverware.
