XII WINTER OLYMPIC GAMES. LAKE PLACID 1980

Original vintage sport poster dedicated to The 1980 Winter Olympics (officially known as the XIII Olympic Winter Games) was a multi-sport event which was celebrated from February 13th to the 24th in Lake Placid, New York. The mascot of the Games was "Roni" the raccoon. Note that the United States men's ice hockey team, composed mostly of collegiate players, won the gold medal by defeating the veteran Soviet team, which came into the 1980 Games having won four consecutive Olympic gold medals. This victory became known as the "Miracle on Ice".
