This was purchased many years ago but never used.  Toro has not changed anything on this PVB model since 1993 so it is identical to those sold today at hardware stores except it has a much lower serial #.

Originally marketed as Goodell's Combined Gauge and Square and patented by Albert D. Goodell in 1894, this gauge was produced by the Goodell Tool Company between 1894 and 1931 when Millers Falls absorbed Goodell Pratt and continued to offer their version of this butt ever-popular butt gauge.

This comes in its original box.  Most of the label is intact and it bares the patent date of Dec. 18, 1894.  The box is in good shape but the lid has split corners as shown in photos.

The gauge is in excellent shape but there is residue from tape or a label having been peeled off.  It isn't sticky and with some effort should be removable.
