DCF packing cells – 1oz DCF.

Hyperlight DCF protection for pretty much anything, with the full convenience of a zip. Skye’s UK made packing cells are critical for ultralight organisation, and thanks to their carefully taped seams and YKK AQUAGUARD® zip your gear stays dry as well as neat. Indescribably light, the mini size is just 6.5g. Supercharged with 200XT of dyneema they hopelessly outclass and underweigh pretty much every other packing cell available.

Weights/Dimensions

The fabric is 1oz DCF. This is a really rare ultralight fabric, made in just one factory in the USA. It contains dyneema, the strongest fibre on earth. This means the fabric can be excruciatingly strong, (dyneema is 15X stronger than steel!) but still hyperlightweight, a square yard of 1oz DCF weighs just one ounce. The net result is that it is much lighter than alternative fabrics, yet often stronger as well. With DCF low weight does not mean low durability. The fabric is also inherently waterproof to over 20,000mm with no coating to break down, and does not stretch or absorb water like Nylons. It is repairable instantly and near invisibly with my DCF tape, and it has a lower carbon footprint as the dyneema is synthesised from plants. If you want the best, you just found it.

1oz DCF packing cells are the lightest possible option whilst still having a realistic durability. They contain 200XT of dyneema, I also make significantly tougher 1.43oz DCF packing cells with a 500XT dyneema content, for a little more weight.

About Wild Sky Gear

Wild Sky Gear was started by Skye McGregor, a British 15 year old who hiked Lands’ End to John O'Groats solo. I hiked through the winter and to keep my pack light started making my own gear and then sold some of the surplus. This turned out to be a bit more successful than I had anticipated, and now I’m constantly sewing.

PS: I really appreciate feedback on my items and service. Please let me know how everything is - I love hearing about how you're using my gear and the adventures you're going on :)

Water resistance:

The fabric has a rating of 20,000mm. The seams are taped and it has a Aquaguard zip so usually it is very highly water resistant, but you must always protect moisture sensitive items with a zip lock bag, and don’t use these for swimming, diving or general water sports.
