VERY RARE CHINESE HAND CARVED STYLIZED FLORAL DESIGN 10.5 " BURGANDY GINGER JAR.   The jar is porcelain onto which a very thick hard coating of some kind of aggregate material suitable for carving has been applied.  A Burgundy glaze has been applied and the design carved before firing.  The incised designs are florals and onto some of these a light thin green pigment has been applied. On opposite sides of the jar two large vases with elaborate scrolls support flower arrangements.  The design element of the Greek key has been used in bands at both the top and bottom of the jar.  The Burgundy background is filled with lighter areas that radiate through the glaze.  I purchased this ginger jar in early 1980s.
