VERY RARE CHINESE HAND CARVED STYLIZED FLORAL DESIGN 6 " BURGANDY GINGER JAR WITHOUT LID.  The jar is porcelain onto which a very thick coat of aggregate material suitable for carving has been applied.  A Burgandy glaze has been applied and the design carved on the jar before firing.  The incised designs are florals, some of which contain a thin green pigment.  On opposite sides of the jar, two vases, urns, with elaborate scrolls support large stylized floral arrangements. The Burgundy glazed background has a lighter pigment sprinkled throughout that gives the jar a radiant quality.  I purchased this jar in early 1980s.
