The Saratoga America the Beautiful quarter is a coin issued by the
United States Mint in 2015 as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters
Program. It commemorates the Saratoga National Historical Park in New
York, which was the site of a major American victory during the
Revolutionary War. The design features an image of British General John
Burgoyne surrendering his sword to American General Horatio Gates after
the Battle of Saratoga. The reverse also includes the inscriptions
"Saratoga," "New York," "E Pluribus Unum," and the year of issuance. The
America the Beautiful Quarters Program is a series of coins that honor
some of America's most iconic and beloved natural and cultural
landmarks, as well as significant historical events like the Battle of
Saratoga.
