Cut Coin State Quarter
Cut Coin State Quarter California 2008 The Gold Rush US History Necklace Jewelry
The California state quarter was released in 2005 as part of the United
States Mint's 50 State Quarters program. The reverse design features an
image of naturalist and explorer John Muir admiring Yosemite Valley's
granite and waterfalls, with a soaring California condor in the
background.
The design was chosen to celebrate California's natural
beauty and the legacy of John Muir, who was instrumental in the
establishment of Yosemite National Park and other wilderness areas in
the state. The quarter also features the state's motto, "E Pluribus
Unum," and its nickname, "The Golden State."
