This exceptional antique Victorian English sterling silver combination vesta / sovereign case has a subtly domed rectangular, rounded form.
The anterior and posterior surfaces of this silver case are plain and unembellished.
This antique Victorian sterling silver sovereign case is fitted with a hinged hallmarked push fit cover allowing access to the hallmarked sprung sovereign holders.
This exceptional antique case is fitted with a ring loop attachment to one side and has ahinged hallmarked cover which incorporates a plain thumbpiece; this cover allows access to the matches.
This impressive sterling silver case has an integrated serrated panel/match striker to upper portion of the vesta case cover.
The interior of this exceptional case retains the original gilding.

Full hallmarks struck to the rim of the vesta case in addition to part hallmarks to the interior of each cover, the sprung sovereign receiver and ring loop attachment are all very clear.
The maker"s mark has been overstruck, which was not an unusual practice, but remains very clear and distinguishable.
