THEY WERE DESIGNED IN 2003 BY THE COLLABORATIVE WORK OF TINE BROKSØ AND KAREN KJÆLDGÅRD-LARSEN AND PRODUCED BY THE KÄHLER STUDIOS IN DENMARK. THIS EXAMPLE IS NAMED "RIHANNA" AND IS ALSO KNOWN AS "PRIMADONNA". THIS BEAUTIFUL BOWL WAS REMARKABLY DESIGNED. NOTE THAT THE VERTICAL CURVED RIDGES ON ONE SIDE BECOME HORIZONTAL RIDGES ON THE REVERSE SIDE. THE GLAZE IS A RICH REDDISH MAHOGANY BROWN WITH SOME LIGHTER HIGHLIGHTS. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE BOWL IS SITTING ON WHITE WHICH IS REFLECTING ON TO THE POTTERY CAUSING IT TO APPEAR LIGHTER. Claydies consists of Tine Broksø (1971) and Karen Kjældgård-Larsen (1974), who are both trained ceramic artists from the Danish Design School. Furthermore, Karen Kjældgård-Larsen is the designer of Royal Copenhagen's Mussel Mega.
Tine has received the three-year grant from the Danish Arts Foundation. Tine Broksø (b.1971) Scholarship Committee's motivation: "Tine Broksø and Karen Kjældgård-Larsen is two people, but deleted one ceramic artist or an artist also known as Claydies or rather The Claylady. As the name suggests, they are both educated ceramists, but work as one organism with two heads, two sets of fantasies, and two sets of arms with four hands. They have worked together since 2000 and has from the start mark convincing both experimental, conceptual art ceramics and industrial designers. With a liberating sense of humor and self-irony they attack again and again their field. You never know quite what you have in store when recourse one of their exhibitions, but it is quite characteristic of their approach to the subject and their working method, one can assume that they have been fully inserted in the core and experimented with what pottery is or can be. With the passage of humor comments on our relationship with the reified world, so it adheres well to our Internal memory straw. The duo has received numerous honors for their innovative approach to ceramics craft. Now awarded Tine Broksø the three-year work scholarship, but honor is shared equally among them.
In just a few years, Claydies have made a name for themselves among the new and experimenting generation of young Danish ceramic artists. The pair work conceptually with ceramics and apply a set of dogmatic rules, which break with "quiet and harmless" ceramics. THE CONDITION:
I am pleased to tell you that the overall condition is quite excellent. This is what I see: there is a glaze pop on the lower area on one side. I have provided a close-up photo. Please note that the digital camera and lighting accentuates what it records. If this small spot bothers you, it can be concealed with a matching color and some clear enamel. There are some additional specks here and there that are inherent to the pottery making process. There is a small scratch on the inside. Otherwise, all I see to describe is some light handling and some soiling to the light colored unglazed base, likely due to table or shelf wear. On a scale of 1-10, I have no problem rating this bowl with a score of 9.5 out of 10. ●●●I hope I have not overlooked anything.
