Germany: Oldenburg Commemorative Medal for the First Schleswig War 1848-1849. Very rare bronze medal awarded to members of the three infantry battalions and one artillery battery fielded by the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg in the first war against Denmark 1848-49. However, the medal was not established until 1898, and then could only be claimed by surviving veterans; consequently, very few medals were awarded. The “PFA” on the obverse stands for Paul Friedrich August von Oldenburg, Grand Duke of Oldenburg during the war. The medal is in extremely fine condition, on correct older replacement ribbon. Authenticity guaranteed; 14-day return privilege (30 days overseas), excluding postage, provided item is returned in same condition when sold. Item will be shipped USPS Priority Mail; will combine postage for multiple purchases.
