The VW Kubelwagen was devised by Ferdinand Porsche and based on the chassis of the VW Beetle. Inital designs indicated the Beetle chassis would not be strong enough so development of the body was sub contracted to Trutz.  Further development of the prototype lead to the Type 82 which reduced the lowest speed to 4km/h (the pace of marching soldiers) and improved it's off road performance. Production of the Type 82 started in February 1940 and continued until the end of WWII with over 50,400 produced.

The BMW R12 was a flat-twin engine motorcycle produced in Germany between 1935 and 1942 by BMW Motorrad. A total of 36,008 R12 were produced.

The R12 was quickly adopted into military service being used in reconnaisance and communication activities. They could be fitted with sidecars which often had a light machine gun giving the crew greater firepower. The R12 was used extensively in all arms of the German military during WWII. Captured vehicles were also utilised by the Allies. In Normandy "Panzer Meyer" was famed for scooting round the battlefield on his trusty BMW - on many occassions with his commanding officer in the sidecar.

Ideal for wargaming or just building for fun. Not to be missed.
