FRENCH LANGUAGE celebration of the Citroen Traction - the translation of the rear cover description is:
In 1933, André Citroën's business ran into serious difficulties. He has just completely rebuilt and modernized his factory on the Quai de Javel in less than five months, without ever disrupting production, and is taking up the most astonishing industrial challenge there is. "The One Who Keeps Louis Renault Awake" plans to launch a truly revolutionary automobile that will give it years of a head start on the competition. But he had to act quickly because the situation was getting worse. In March 1933, he hired a young engineer by the name of André Lefebvre who was "bored" at Renault. He has already been working for some time on the study of a front-wheel drive car. On April 18, 1934, the Traction Avant was presented to dealers and the first sales took place the following month. But it lacks development and the financial situation of the factory does not recover. Driven into bankruptcy, André Citroën had to leave his factory at Michelin, his biggest creditor. Worn and tired, he died on July 3, 1935 without having seen the triumph of his latest creation. The new masters of the Quai de Javel will complete the development of this Traction he had so wanted. Its story does not end until July 18, 1957, when the last copy leaves the assembly lines of the quai de Javel...
